The Ulster Museum proudly showcases their collection of twentieth-century and contemporary in ’The Shock of the New’.
With a legacy spanning decades, the museum has established itself as one of the most respected and long-standing institutions in the UK and Ireland. Through a carefully curated selection of artworks, this permanent exhibition takes you on journey across five decades, showcasing the vibrant energy and innovative spirit that defined each era.
From early triumphs with Stanley Spencer’s evocative, “The Betrayal,” (1923), to Edward McGuire’s “Portrait of Seamus Heaney”, commissioned in 1973, digest the diverse styles, themes, and techniques employed by contemporary artists as they explored the diversity of creative expression.
