Explore the works of Alberta Whittle, and contemplate her powerful call for us to to “invest in love”.
Whittle’s artworks confront the brutality and harm inflicted by the historical forces of colonialism, the Transatlantic slave trade, and today’s urgent climate crisis. She dismantles the notion that racism and police brutality are limited to specific regions, reflecting on Scotland’s complicity in the structures of white supremacy.
This exhibition showcases Alberta’s largest collection of works to date, featuring sculptures, digital collages, watercolours, and new paintings created specifically for this show.
With deeply personal narratives interwoven with themes of family and belonging, Alberta offers a message of hope, inviting us to envision a world beyond these destructive systems and ideologies.
