The Bienal de São Paulo is a prominent contemporary art exhibition, organised by the Fundação Bienal de São Paulo.  Free to all visitors, it is ranked as the largest in the southern hemisphere and the second oldest globally, second only to the esteemed Venice Biennale.

Taking place from September 6th to December 10th 2023, The 35th Bienal de São Paulo – Choreographies of the Impossible – will unfold within the iconic Ciccillo Matarazzo Pavilion in São Paulo, Brazil, beacon of Brazilian modernist architecture.

At the heart of this monumental event is the vibrant Fundação Bienal de São Paulo, an institution dedicated to conceiving and implementing artistic, educational, and social initiatives. Besides organising an event that energises the art world, the foundation hosts year-round activities and events, both at the renowned Pavilion and various locations within and beyond Brazil. This tireless effort seeks to spark new ideas, ignite thought-provoking debates, and nurture a sense of restlessness, purpose, and inquiry among the public.

This year’s exhibition builds on this legacy, boasting the impactful works of 121 artists, while beckoning visitors to explore “radical imaginations about the unknown, or even about what figures as im/possible.”
