Visit Black Atlantic: Power, People, Resistance, as it delves into hidden narratives, challenging the stories that endure in our collective memory.

Providing context behind the establishment of their own museum (funded and filled much by wealth accumulated from the transatlantic slave trade), you will encounter artworks from West Africa, the Caribbean, South America and Europe; amongst contemporary pieces from Black-British artists.

With thought-provoking artwork from Barbara Walker, Donald Locke, Alberta Whittle and Keith Piper, the display seeks to empower and inspire a future of repair, hope and freedom.  It uncovers not only stories of exploitation, but that of cultural artistry, history, resilience and liberation.

By doing so, it acts as a counterpoint – providing visibility and a voice to the silenced, and helping to recalibrate and reframe our collective consciousness.
