Portraits of Brotherhood is a solo exhibition by London-based artist Curtis Holder.

Inspired by intimate conversations with his subjects, Holder’s multilayered pencil portraits are dynamically tender, emerging from febrile lines that capture form, movement, and emotional depth. Preliminary pencil marks remain on the paper, reflecting his energetic process of capturing fleeting gestures and emotions with sensitivity and raw honesty.

In this series, Holder portrays Black men from diverse backgrounds, offering a nuanced exploration of identity, masculinity, vulnerability, and resilience against the backdrop of societal stereotypes.
