Cloud Songs on the Horizon, Ranjani Shettar’s inaugural institutional show in Europe, marries the realms of nature and sculpture within the Barbican’s Conservatory. Encompassing the entire Conservatory space, this exhibition introduces five new, large-scale suspended sculptures that form a striking fusion of art and the natural world.
Shettar’s sculptures are the embodiment of her meticulous craftsmanship, individually handcrafted by the artist herself. They draw their creative essence from the intricacies of nature, utilising an array of materials such as wood, stainless steel, muslin, and lacquer. These sculptures also incorporate techniques derived from traditional Indian crafts, infusing them with a rich cultural heritage.
For those seeking a unique experience, the Conservatory opens its doors for special late-night sessions every Friday, allowing visitors to explore this cherished tropical oasis after regular hours. This enchanting opportunity should not be missed, offering a chance to immerse oneself in the captivating blend of art and nature.
