‘A once in a generation opportunity for audiences in Belfast.’

This year, Belfast Exposed proudly hosts British Journal of Photography’s prestigious Portrait of Humanity Vol. 5 Exhibition.

Launched in 2018, this annual photographic award attracts submissions from photographers worldwide.

From this global pool, 30 individual images and 3 photographic series are carefully chosen to illuminate the profound and personal moments that define the essence of humanity.

The theme of this edition centres around photography’s role in a world of change.

In the selection of single images you will see Supratim Bhattacharjee capture a story of loss caused by climate change in West Bengal; Marcia Pimenta celebrate the black, trans artists making waves in Porto Alegre, Brazil; and Deirdre Brennan reminding us that ‘Loving One Another Makes us Glamourous’ in Dublin, Ireland.

When viewed as a whole, the exhibition forms a visually arresting and awe-inspiring collection of art that documents the vast spectrum of the human experiences and connectivity during these uncertain times.

‘…across oceans and borders, there is more that unites us than sets us apart’

– The British Journal of Photography
