Explore the evolving concept of family through over 120 artworks, spanning painting, photography, sculpture, and film.

From historical masterpieces by renowned artists like Joshua Reynolds, Nicolas Poussin, and Albrecht Dürer; to thought-provoking works by their modern contemporaries, this exhibition challenges conventional notions of family dynamics, revealing their complex, sometimes painful, and enduring impact.

An exhibition that promises to provoke thought and inspire conversation, here you will experience enriching and engaging works from such artists as Aliza Nisenbaum, Tracey Emin, Paula Rego, Harden Pandhal, and Lucian Freud.

Developed in collaboration with the world-leading Centre for Family Research in Cambridge, Real Families underscores that it’s not the structure of the family that matters most, but rather the quality of relationships and the social contexts in which they exist.
