Explore the elegance and exuberance of the Rococo this summer with new works by British artist Flora Yukhnovich. Known for her large-scale, semi-abstract oil paintings, Yukhnovich breathes fresh life into the language of the Rococo, responding to the style’s rich history through two newly created pieces inspired by 18th-century French painter François Boucher. These vibrant works occupy ornate frames at the top of the grand staircase, inviting viewers to reconsider the interplay of past and present.

Meanwhile, Boucher’s theatrical paintings are showcased in the Housekeeper’s Room, displayed without their frames on white walls, giving them a contemporary feel. This striking presentation asks visitors to reflect on how display impacts our interpretation of art and invites a modern connection with the Rococo’s playful, decorative style.

Running until 3 November 2024, the exhibition challenges preconceptions, blending historical reverence with fresh perspectives.
