Marjan van Aubel’s work seamlessly combines sustainability, design, and technology, challenging us to rethink a sun-powered future.
In this immersive installation, part of London Design Festival, van Aubel takes inspiration from her Sunne solar lights, using specially adapted lighting to represent our essential connection to the sun. Here, a constellation of lights mirrors the sun’s daily cycle, accompanied by a soundscape created from NASA’s solar recordings.
As visitors’ heartbeats synchronise with solar rhythms, our awareness of this life-giving bond deepens. The calming, otherworldly atmosphere triggers theta brain waves, encouraging reflection on our relationship with the sun and the possibilities of solar energy.
