Adam Shiu-Yang Shaw uses his art to explore psychogeography, memory, and the intricacies of the built environment.
With an innate talent for navigating between objects, rooms, and images, the artist employs everyday construction materials, craft techniques, and discarded consumer goods throughout his work.
Meticulously reconfiguring these pre-existing forms, he traces, disassembles, and tailors them to create thought-provoking collages of hybrid configurations and timelines.
Shaw’s exhibition is part of the ‘The Artist’s Eye’ series at Gallery 1, where exhibiting artists invite influential creatives to showcase their work in Gallery 2.
This mindful initiative recognises the crucial role artists play in shaping and inspiring their peers. Here, visual artist Liz Magor extends a heartfelt invitation to the talented Adam Shiu-Yang Shaw, once her pupil at Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver.
Join Shaw in an exploration of form, memory, and the human experience.
