The Author

Judith Zilczer, formerly of the Hirshhorn Museum, Smithsonian, curated numerous exhibits during her 29-year tenure. Notably, she was the museum’s Historian, Paintings Curator, and Acting Chief Curator. Some key exhibit publications she’s credited with are on Willem de Kooning (1993), Richard Lindner (1996), and Visual Music (2005). A University of Delaware Ph.D. alumna from 1975, she’s won awards like the 2006 George Wittenborn Memorial Book Award. Dr. Zilczer is a top authority on Willem de Kooning’s art.
