More details on this book:

Josef and Anni Albers are among the twentieth century’s most important abstract artists, creators of an oeuvre rich with color and texture. This is the first monograph to celebrate these masters in one elegant volume. It presents their life and work as never before, from their formative years at the Bauhaus in Germany, to their remarkable influence at Black Mountain College in the United States, and their intensely productive period in Connecticut.

The book’s text is accompanied by more than 750 artworks, archival images, and documents—many published here for the first time—allowing readers to explore the remarkable lives and careers of this legendary couple.

In a series of short essays, the book discusses the relationship between Josef and Anni Albers — and other important artists and architects from their circle — and a number of important artists and architects from the 20th century, like Ruth Asawa, Marcel Breuer, Merce Cunningham, Philip Johnson, Paul Klee, Jacob Lawrence and many more.

The cloth-bound package features luxurious colours, beautiful design, and elegant type treatments that convey the artist’s lives. The book also showcases the artists’ deep convictions that art is central to human existence.
