More details on this book:

Lucian Freud was a pivotal artist of the last century and the start of this one, and Phaidon proudly presents the most detailed overview of his work.

This outstanding collection stems from a unique partnership: David Dawson, head of the Lucian Freud Archive and Freud’s right-hand man for twenty years; writer Martin Gayford; and editor Mark Holborn. This trio unveils not just the art but also deeper glimpses of Freud the man. Gayford notes Freud’s unwavering commitment to portraying reality. Freud sought genuine beauty, painting what stood before him with precision, valuing authenticity over imagination.

Showcasing over 480 images, Phaidon highlights these raw yet captivating portraits, featuring everyone from close kin and acquaintances to intriguing strangers like a bookie or criminal.

A crucial resource for art academics, this also promises to enchant art enthusiasts globally.
